What is a reputable and updated operating system?

A reputable operating system can be defined as any operating system that is actively supported by the company that created it. A reputable operating system should be able to receive automatic updates from the developers that created it. Examples of such operating systems would be:

Windows:

  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 10

Mac OSX:

  • OS X Mountain Lion
  • OS X Mavericks
  • OS X Yosemite
  • OS X El Capitan
  • OS X Sierra
  • OS X High Sierra
  • OS X Mojave

Linux:

  • Fedora
  • Ubuntu
  • CentOS

A reputable operating system is safer for use on the network, because of the updates released by the developers to fix security holes that are found. By sealing those holes, it is harder for malware and hackers to attack the device the operating system is running on.
