This session will cover how to take attendance using Roll Call and will include:

  • Adding Attendance to your course menu
  • Reviewing the Attendance (Roll Call) settings

This session will review communication tools in Canvas that will help you communicate with your students and the use of groups for collaboration. Topics covered in this session will include:

  • Canvas Inbox (internal messaging system)

This session will review the reports available to you as an instructor. Topics covered in this session will include:

  • Where to access reports
  • What reports are available
  • How to run reports

Putting Differentiated Instruction into Practice in Your Classroom

Join us in the workshop-bassed session where we will review the basics of differentiated instruction and put in to practice some of the principles in your classroom. Participants will walk away with tangible ideas and products to implement right away into their classroom.

This will be an introductory session on how to get started with Canvas. Topics covered in this session will include:

  • Accessing and logging into Canvas
  • Canvas Navigation Basics
  • Suggestions on how to approach reviewing and updating your courses
  • Basics of adding and re-arranging content
  • Review Course Evaluation Checklist
  • Creating and Adding Content

This session will cover setting up your gradebook and using rubrics. Topics covered in this session will include:

  • Setting up gradebook
  • Managing categories
  • Setting up Weighted Total
  • Overall gradebook management
  • Creating Rubrics

This session will cover to how grade assessments in Canvas and the use of SpeedGrader. Topics covered in this session will include:

  • Grading each assignment type (assignment, quiz, etc)
  • Grade settings and grade management
  • Using SpeedGrader
  • Providing feedback to students (with/without a rubric)
  • Student view of feedback

This session will cover how to use Kahoot! in the classroom. It will include:

  • Creating a Kahoot!
  • Sharing with students
  • Using in PowerPoint
  • Tips for use in the classroom

This session will cover Canvas quizzes and test banks. Topics covered in this session will include:

  • Reviewing Quizzes from Blackboard
  • Creating a new quiz
  • Quiz settings
  • Working with test banks
  • Student view of quizzes

This session will show what a course looks like from the student view. This will allow you to better understand students questions about their experience. Topics covered in this session will include:

  • Grade Predictor tool

This session will demonstrate how to use TunritIn (the replacement for SafeAssign) as a faculty member and how to interpret the scores. This includes setting up an assignment with Turnitin. Draft Coach, an interactive online coach for citations, grammar, and similarity will be demonstrated. Draft Coach is available for both faculty and students.

This session will review Verity, which is the replacement for Lockdown Browser:

  • how to set up Verity in Canvas for both faculty and students
  • how to set up a quiz with Verity
  • the features and functionality of Verity quiz settings
  • accessing and reading the Verity data dashboard

This session will review how to begin using Yuja. Topics include:

  • Library Organization
  • Recording a Yuja video
  • Editing Basics
  • Closed-captioning Basics
  • Sharing with students

Blackboard Collaborate will be sunsetting for the College on June 30, 2023. This session will review how to use Zoom for synchronous sessions.
