In OWA “Conversation View” with “Newest messages on top” is the default view for all users.
The default view displays replies to the same message stacked underneath one another with the newest replies on top.
Leaving conversation view turned on, can lead to confusion. Often users will report not receiving a message do to the latest message being displayed with the name of the last person who replied to the message next to the message subject. Previous replies including your own replies will be in-line underneath the message subject. The original message is at the bottom of the message thread.
Expanding the pointer “ > ” next to the message in your Inbox is necessary in order to see all messages from all previous senders within the same message thread, including the original message
At the top of the page, select Settings 
to open Quick settings.
Under Conversation view, choose one of the following:
To sort messages by conversation, select Newest messages on top or Newest messages on bottom.
To show email as individual messages, select Off
