Below is an infographic that will walk you through the basics needed for understanding computer storage size. The following infographic will cover the different sizes and what is available to you at Montco.

Byte(s) Size: Understanding Computer Storage Size. How is Storage Size Measure? Computer storage is measured in bytes, kilobytes (KB), megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB), and terabytes (TB). One byte equals one character of information. What Does that Translate To? Pay attention to the first part of the word. When you break it down you get the following: kilo equals thousand, mega equals million, giga equals billion, tera equals trillion. What Does That Look Like? Based on the breakdown you can determine storage and file sizes from smallest to largest. A graph with smallest (kilobyte) to largest (terabyte) is visible. How Can I Manage File Size and Storage at Montco? You can generally upload files that are as large as 20mb to Blackboard. Upload large files and store files on you free file storage spaces provided by the College: OneDrive and Virtual Storage Space (if applicable).
