Testing Prep Computer Loan Rules and Agreement
Students may borrow notebook computers at the MCCC Libraries for testing preparation use in designated testing preparation areas and according to the following provisions:
Eligibility
- Student must present a valid ID (Montco ID, government issued ID, or High School ID).
- The computer must be returned by the same student who checked it out.
Loan Period and Availability
- Computers can be borrowed for up to four (4) hours at a time. Students can renew the computer after four (4) hours, unless another student is waiting to borrow a computer. Computers must be renewed by bringing the computer to the MCCC Libraries by the time it is due.
- Computers must be returned no later than fifteen (15) minutes before the MCCC Libraries closing time.
- Computer borrowing privileges may be suspended for two (2) weeks if the computer is not returned on time on more than one occasion. Additional late returns may result in a permanent loss of laptop borrowing privileges.
Student Liability
- An overdue fine of $1.00 for each hour, or any portion thereof, will be charged if the computer is not returned on time. An additional $5.00 fine will be charged if the computer is not returned within fifteen (15) minutes of closing time.
- Replacement cost for a lost computer is approximately $1,600. The student is responsible for full replacement value or repair costs of the computer if it is lost or damaged. The student is also responsible for all other fees necessary in recovering the computer, including, but not limited to, the cost of legal fees and cost of suit.
- The student must sign the liability statement on the reverse side of this page each time a computer is borrowed.
Warning
Damaged, lost, or defective computers must be reported to the MCCC Libraries immediately. Do not, under any circumstances, leave the computer unattended. The student is responsible for all damage, loss, and theft.
If a computer is not returned to the MCCC Libraries by the end of the day, attempts will be made to contact the student to have them return the computer. If attempts to have the student return the computer fail, a police report will be filed. The police will use tracking software installed on the computer to locate it. Failure to return the computer may result in the student being in violation of the criminal code of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and Montgomery County Community College may seek criminal prosecution.
