Self-Service Advising Feature Overview

    1. Log into the Montco Portal. 
    2. Click Self-Service.

 

    1.  Click Advising

      This is an image of the advising link to access the advising feature in self-service

    2.  In the search bar, enter the name of a student you wish to locate. A list of names will appear. Click the name of the student you wish to view. 

      This is an image of a search bar that allows you to search by Student or Advisor.  

Below is a breakdown of the tabs within Advising:  
This is an image of the tab menu at the top in the advising feature. The Course Plan tab has a blue line under it indicating it is the tab currently in use.

Course Plan : You can view a student's course plan by semester. This also alerts you to any holds on a student's record.  This is an image of the semester scroll option. To the left are a right facing and left facing arrow, which allows you to move through semesters. In the center is the semester. 2013/SP Spring semester is shown. To the right is a plus sign.
This is an image of the Course Plan view. Towards the top left you can view it in list or calendar format. The column information includes approval, course, credits, instructor, time, and location. Under some courses, you will have a green check mark with the words completed or a red x with the words not completed.    

This is an image of a pop up box with a red exclamation point that alerts the user of a hold on a student's record.

Timeline A more practical view to see a student's course plan by semester along with the grades for each course and semester GPA. You can click on any box to view more details.  This is an image of the Timeline view. There are individual boxes that represent and list a given semester. In the box is a list of courses for that semester along with the final grade to the right of each course. At the bottom of the box is the semester GPA and enrolled credits.
Progress This view gives you details of a student's progress in their degree program. 

  This is a bar graph showing the overall completion for a student. This includes overall progress, total credits, and total credits from this school. A green line shows the progress for each category.

 

Further down the page, you can view progress by program requirements. You can click  view details  to get a dialed in view of the information. 

This is an image of a progress report. The data is broken down into categories such as A. General Course and B. Discipline History. Under each category specific information is listed such as Take COM*214, SRT*214 to help a student identify the courses to meet that category. Clicking Show Details will expand a box that shows the courses that have been taken or have not been taken for that category. You will be informed of the status, course, grade, terms, and credits.

 

This is another example image. This is an image of a progress report. The data is broken down into categories such as A. General Course and B. Discipline History. Under each category specific information is listed such as Take COM*214, SRT*214 to help a student identify the courses to meet that category. Clicking Show Details will expand a box that shows the courses that have been taken or have not been taken for that category. You will be informed of the status, course, grade, terms, and credits.

Plan Archive : Here you can download a basic PDF report of the student's academic plan and any notes on their account. Click  download  under Archived PDF to access this report.     This is a image of a downloadable plan. A link under the column Archived PDF can be clicked to access the download. You also have the archive date and the name of the person who archived it.
Test Scores : Here you can see admissions, placement, and other test scores.    This image shows information for placement tests and other tests. Data included includes the test name, date taken, score, percentile, status, and status date.
Unofficial Transcript : An unofficial Transcript can be downloaded from this location. Click on the provided file to download.  This is an image of a clickable link for any available transcripts. At the top a message reads These documents are unofficial and should not replace the official signed and sealed transcript provided by the registrar.  
 

Grades : Grades per course per semester can be viewed in this location. Click on the semester title to reveal more information. 

  This image shows a list of available semester that can be expanded to reveal grades for each course in that semester.
Graduation Application : View and review as student's graduation application in this location.   
jobZology : View the results of the student's jobZology career and interests assessment.
