Faculty - Can Students Outside of a Group See Group Assignments in Blackboard?

There may come a time when an instructor wants or needs to create separate group assignments on Blackboard for the purpose of allowing group projects to be submitted. This raises an important question - if a student is assigned to a certain group, are they able to see the assignment turn-in sections for other groups? Or if they are not assigned to a group at all, can they still see these turn-ins?

The answer is no. If a student is not assigned to the group linked to a particular assignment, he or she will be unable to see or interact with the assignment in any way. This means that care must be taken to ensure that students are assigned to the correct group to prevent problems, but it also eliminates the possibility of a student submitting a group assignment via the wrong link.

Further questions regarding Blackboard groups, or requests for training in areas of Blackboard use, can be submitted to the Help Desk via email at helpdesk@mc3.edu or by phone at 215-641-6495.
