Set up Outlook for Android

In this article you will learn how to download and set up the Outlook for Android app.  This requires the Microsoft Intune app to manage the College data on your device.  

 

Microsoft Outlook and other Microsoft apps may be used on Faculty and Staff personal devices that meet the Personal Device Security Standard.

Please review the Standard Highlights before proceeding.

 

Personal Device Security Standard Highlights

1. Notify the MC3 Help Desk immediately if your personal device, containing College data, is sold, traded-in, lost, stolen, or otherwise disposed of.    
2. Use a strong PIN to protect the College data.    
3. Do not store or access Strictly Confidential Data on devices that are not College issued.    

 

How to Set up Outlook for Android

1. Open the Google Play store on your device.

2. Search for Microsoft Outlook and tap to  Install .  

3. Once installed, tap to  Open the Outlook app.  

4. Once the Outlook app opens, tap  Get Started

 

5.  Enter your  full College email address  (ending with @mc3.edu) and press  Continue

6.   Once redirected to the MC3 login page, provide your  password  and then press  Sign In.

7. Tap Get the app

 

8. Tap to  Install  the Intune Company Portal app.  This app is required and will manage the College data on your personal device.  

 

 

9. Once installed, tap to  Open the Intune app.

 

 

10. If the Outlook app does not reopen automatically, please open it now and tap  Get Started

 

11.  Enter your  full College email address  (ending with @mc3.edu) and press  Continue

12.   Once redirected to the MC3 login page, provide your  password  and then press  Sign In.

13. Tap Register

14. Choose  Skip.   

15. Tap  OK to the message.

 

16. Please create a  strong PIN to secure the College data in the Outlook app. 

Phones with fingerprint readers will usually only use your fingerprint after initial PIN setup, for ease of use.  

17. After a few moments, you will see the email and calendar data populate.  

Please Note  the "Focused" and "Other" tabs at the top of the screen.  This will automatically sort your email.  Continue reading to find out how to turn this off.  

How to turn off "Focused Inbox"

 
 1. Adjust your Inbox settings by clicking the icon that looks like 3 lines in the upper left corner.

2. Click the Settings icon that looks like a gear.

3. Scroll down and press the button next to Focused Inbox so it is turned off (no longer highlighted in blue)

Bonus Option: 

A little further down is Organize mail by Thread. This option allows you to view messages in a thread even if they are in other folders or mailboxes. To turn this option off, press the button next to Organize mail by Thread (so it is no longer highlighted in blue).
