Course Section Availability Report (CSAR)
CSAR is the section availability report which is produced to see open sections and/or include closed sections. Use the Section Availability Report (CSAR) screen to generate a report indicating whether course sections are available. The report indicates the following:
How To Run a CSAR (basic) |
1. | Log into Colleague (not possible through wireless connections) | |
2. | In the upper left, type “CSAR” | ![]() |
3. | Choose to run the report organized by faculty or location (default = location) |

4. | Disregard all other entries at the top of the form. | |

Enter the desired Term (semester) or Terms. You can enter more than one, however it is recommended to run a single CSAR for each Term.

OPTIONAL INPUTS. Leave these blank unless you wish to further filter your results. Typically used options are in bold.

Note: | There is generally no difference between subject and department; use subject | |
7. | Leave “Additional Selection Criteria” set to “No”. | |
8. | Click “Save” or press F9, then “Update” to proceed to the next screen. | |

Enter the Output Device you desire. “e” will launch a sub-screen that allows you to email the results to yourself. “h” will allow you to view and save the report as a .txt file. |

10. | Disregard all other fields on this screen, and click “Save” or press F9, then click “Update” | |

Disregard all fields in the next screen and repeat step 10. |

A new screen will pop up, indicating the status of the report, followed by a display of the report itself. |

To save the report, click “save as” and follow the on screen directions. Alternatively, you can export as a PDF and follow those on screen directions. |

Be sure to save the file with the extension “.txt” to ensure easy opening of the file afterwards. |
