Adding Trusted Sites (Windows 10)

This primarily pertains to the enhanced security of Windows 10 and its blocking of materials from websites.  If you get security warnings that material from a source is insecure or blocked, making the site Trusted is often the resolution.
These settings will be reflected in other browsers like Firefox and Chrome despite being configured through Internet Explorer.

Note:  Make sure you only add websites you trust.  Contact the Technical Help Desk  if you are unsure.  A common example is Blackboard Collaborate.  Additionally, we recommend these steps be used for College computers and not for personal devices.

1. Open Internet Explorer.  In Windows 10 you can click Start and type "Internet Explorer."

2. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and choose " Internet options " from the list.

3. Go to the  Security tab and click on  Trusted sites

4. Click the  Sites button.  You will be presented with a list of sites you have explicitly chosen to trust.  By default it is blank.

5. Add the sites to the list that you need to trust.

For example, if you need to add https://na-downloads.elluminate.com/ to the list, instead try adding it as  https://*.elluminate.com/  which will include all subdomains (sites) that are part of this site.

a. If you get a "Trusted sites" error when adding the site and the site address starts with http:// (not https://)  then you will need to un-check the "Require server verification..." checkbox.

*Please use with caution.

6. Click  Close and then  OK to save these changes.
7. Close and reopen your web browser and try to access the resource again.
8. If the resource could be downloaded but not launched, it may be necessary to unblock the file. To do so, please reference the following article
