Professional Development Session Details

Assignments and Discussions	This session will review the assignment and discussion tools. Topics covered in this session will include: Creating an Assignment Assignment Settings Creating a Discussion Discussion settings TurnIt In Basics
Canvas Greatest Hits	This four-hour, in-person session will cover all the top things to know about Canvas from both the course design and teaching perspective. Topics covered in this session will include: Adjusting content Adding and creating new content Assessments (assignment, discussions, quizzes) Grade Book and Rubrics Communication tools Grading and SpeedGrader Food will be provided at this event. Registration is required.
Canvas Potpourri	This session will be in-person and two hours. This session's topics will be determined by those who register. During the registration process, you will indicate the topics you are interested in and the session will be developed based on participant responses. Food will be provided at this event. Registration required.
Communication tools + Groups and Collaboration	This session will review communication tools in Canvas that will help you communicate with your students and the use of groups for collaboration. Topics covered in this session will include: Canvas Inbox (internal messaging system) Course Calendar Announcements Setting up groups Office 365 Collaboration
Course Analytics and Reports	This session will review the reports available to you as an instructor. Topics covered in this session will include: Where to access reports What reports are available How to run reports Sample reports
Getting Started with Canvas	This will be an introductory session on how to get started with Canvas. Topics covered in this session will include: Accessing and logging into Canvas Canvas Navigation Basics Suggestions on how to approach reviewing and updating your courses Basics of adding and re-arranging content Review Course Evaluation Checklist Creating and Adding Content
Gradebook and Rubrics	This session will cover setting up your gradebook and using rubrics. Topics covered in this session will include: Setting up gradebook Managing categories Setting up Weighted Total Overall gradebook management Creating Rubrics
Grading and SpeedGrader	This session will cover to how grade assessments in Canvas and the use of SpeedGrader. Topics covered in this session will include: Grading each assignment type (assignment, quiz, etc) Grade settings and grade management Using SpeedGrader Providing feedback to students (with/without a rubric) Student view of feedback
Kahoot!	This session will cover how to use Kahoot! in the classroom. It will include: Creating a Kahoot! Sharing with students Using in PowerPoint Tips for use in the classroom
Quizzes and test banks	This session will cover Canvas quizzes and test banks. Topics covered in this session will include: Reviewing Quizzes from Blackboard Creating a new quiz Quiz settings Working with test banks Student view of quizzes
Student View	This session will show what a course looks like from the student view. This will allow you to better understand students' questions about their experience. Topics covered in this session will include: Dashboard Course Stream Reviewing Content Discussions Inbox Groups Assessments Grades Grade Predictor tool
Yuja Basics	This session will review how to begin using Yuja. Topics include: Library Organization Recording a Yuja video Editing Basics Closed-captioning Basics Sharing with students
Zoom Basics \| Join Zoom Training	Blackboard Collaborate will be sunsetting for the College on June 30, 2023. This session will review how to use Zoom for synchronous sessions.
