Block Time as Unavailable

Tips & Tricks: How do I block off time in my calendar as unavailable?


Starfish allows users to block off time in their calendars as unavailable for appointments. This is useful for blocking off time during regular office hours when you will not actually be available and also for blocking off time in your calendar when calendar managers should not schedule office hours, group sessions or appointments.

To block off time use the Reserve Time feature:

  1. Navigate to your calendar by selecting the Appointments tab.
  2. Select the Reserve Time link in the action bar.
  3. Enter a Description for the block of time (e.g., "Committee Meeting" or "Lunch"), the Date and the Start Time and End Time.
  4. Submit the form to add the block to your calendar.

To edit a reserved time block:

  1. Navigate to the block in your calendar.
  2. Select the menu icon to the left of the block description.
  3. In the menu that opens select the Edit Reserved Time option.
  4. Make your edits in the form then Submit to save your changes.

To cancel a reserved time block:

  1. Navigate to the block in your calendar.
  2. Select the menu icon to the left of the block description.
  3. In the menu that opens select the Cancel Reserved Time option.
  4. Select Submit in the confirmation pop-up to complete the cancellation.


You can change it or delete it at any time by clicking on double-down arrow in the upper left corner of the Reserve Time block. This will bring up a menu that will allow you to delete the Reserve Time block or edit it:
