Faculty - Adding Blackboard Collaborate Ultra to Groups

You have the ability to add the Blackboard Collaborate Ultra tool to Groups in Blackboard. This will allow each Group to have their own instance of Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. Only those enrolled in the Group may access the Blackboard Collaborate Ultra session. This article will show you how to add the Blackboard Collaborate Ultra tool to your Groups.

Note: It is recommended that you add yourself to each Group that you create so you can monitor and access content/materials.

1. Go into the course in Blackboard where you want to either create or edit Groups.
2. Under Course Management, click Groups.

3. Either Create a Group or Edit a group you have already created.

For assistance on creating a Group in Blackboard, please view the following article, Faculty - Create a Single Group in Blackboard

To edit a group you have already created, click the gray down arrow next to the name of the Group. Then click Edit Group.

4. Under Tool Availability click the box next to Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. There are two permission options for Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. By default, "Do not allow student group members to create or access session recordings is selected:"

  • Allow group members to create and access session recordings: Lets students record collaborate sessions and access the recording links.
  • Do not allow student group members to create and access session recordings: Does not allow students to record collaborate sessions or view the recording links.

Note: If you want your students to be able to record sessions and access the session recordings you must select "Allow group member to create and access session recordings."

5. Click Submit when you are finished.
