The Retention Center is a tool that is available in Blackboard that helps you identify which students in your course are at risk. Use the information to communicate with students that are struggling and to keep track of patterns over time. You can also use the Retention Center to monitor students who are doing well in your course by customizing the Retention Center rules. 

This article will show you how to access the Retention Center and what the information means in the Retention Center. 

1. Once in your Blackboard course, under Course Management click Evaluation. 

Then click Retention Center.

2. You will now see the Retention Center. There are 4 main areas of the Retention Center:

• Students Currently At Risk table: Summary of students at risk with a table missed deadlines, grade alerts, activity alerts and access alerts. Click on any student name to view more details. 
• Students You are Monitoring: Click on a student from the Students Currently at Risk table to Monitor them. They will then appear in this space. 
• Other Information you are Monitoring: Monitor students who are doing well in your course. This information will appear in this space.
• Your Course Activity: You have the ability to monitor the activity you do in your course as the instructor. This is a great way to self-reflect.
