Faculty - Creating a Zoom Meeting in your Course

Zoom is a web-based video conferencing tool that is available for use via your course in Blackboard. This article will show you how to create a Zoom meeting in your course.

Note: It is recommended that faculty create Zoom meetings from their course in Blackboard.

1. Click the Zoom tool link you created in your course navigation menu

2. Click on Schedule a New Meeting

3. Give your meeting a Topic

4. Enter When and Duration

5.Select Video, Audio, and Meeting Options

  • Host video: Start meetings with the host's video on.
  • Participant video: Start meetings with the participants' video on.
  • Telephone and Computer Audio: Participants can join by telephone or by using their computer's microphone/speaker or headset.
  • Require a password when scheduling new meetings: A random password will be generated when scheduling a meeting. Participants need to enter the password to join the meeting.
  • Join before host: Allow participants to join the meeting before the host joins. If disabled, participants can only join after the host starts the meeting.
  • Mute participants upon entry: Automatically mute all participants when they join the meeting. The host controls whether participants can unmute themselves.
  • Enable waiting room: Allows the host to control when a participant joins the meeting. If the Waiting Room option is enabled, join before host will not work for that meeting.
  • Recording the meeting automatically: allows the host to start local recording or cloud recording automatically. It is recommended that recordings are saved to the cloud.
  • Alternative Hosts: The alternative host option allows you to schedule meetings and designate another licensed user on the same account to start the meeting or webinar if you are unable to.

6. Click Save

7. The meeting will now show under your Upcoming Meetings

8. To start the meeting, click Start next to the meeting you want to start.

If prompted for the MCCC zoom URL, it is mc3-edu.zoom.us
