Logging into a Mac Following a Password Reset (Faculty/Staff)


  • Instructors are unable to login to their work Macbook after a password reset. This requires administrative password.

1. Make sure the user is connected to a network.
2. Upon a password rest, it will display incorrect password.

3. Select switch user and login as admin.  
4. Select System Preferences Users & Groups.

5. Select the effected user > Reset Password.

6. Enter a new password and then Select Change Password, can be anything because the user can login and change it later on.  

5. Select Apple > Log Out admin.  

6. User will need to sign in with the new password.  
7. The user can login and repeat step 4-6. By changing their password to the one that matches the portal.
