Faculty Training Schedule
Below are the current faculty training's scheduled for May 13, 2020 - May 26, 2020. Topics includes Accessibility, Proctoring Exams, Engagement in Synchronous Sessions, Online Tests and Pools, DERCA and MIE, Class Participation, and TechSmith Relay for Faculty and Students. Webinars will take place via the Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. All webinars will be recorded. Recording links are available below the training scheduled. Webinar Training Schedule and Topics
Accessibility: Making your Course Materials Accessible Learn how to format a Word, Excel documents, and PowerPoint presentations for accessibility by using heading styles, formatting tables properly and adding Alt text descriptions to images or pictures in your document.
You will also learn how to use the Blackboard Ally accessibility tool to determine the percentage of accessibility of your files, identify the corrections needed to your files, and to update Blackboard with the accessible version of your file. |

Proctoring Exam Setup The testing center offers proctored exams for students who have approved accommodations and do not have the appropriate technology to use Respondus Lock Down Browser and Monitor. In this session you will learn the steps necessary to set this up:

DERCA and MIE Join this session to learn how to refresh your course by using the College’s DERCA and MIE. Both rubrics help you evaluate your course design and credit hours associated with your course content. Finally, learn how you can use the DERCA and MIE to help you self-reflect after each course you teach. |

Class Participation: Discussion Boards In the online and remote environment, it can be difficult to assess your students’ participation or attendance in a course. By creating graded Discussion Boards, you can build a sense of community within your class and grade your students based on their responses and participation. In this session, you will learn how to set up a graded discussion board, discuss the importance of developing good questions, and walk through the grading process. |

Class Participation: Flipgrid Flipgrid is a simple way to foster short video-based discussions on classroom topics. It works like a discussion board but allows your students to post their response as a video. Faculty can set time limits for videos and students and faculty can respond to each other through video as well. In this session, we will show you how to use this tool to engage your students in the learning process. |

TechSmith Relay: For Faculty TechSmith Relay contains two advanced features to help you engage your students in the Blackboard course. These features help provide valuable feedback to the instructor. TechSmith Relay provides the ability to incorporate quizzes in lecture videos. Quizzes can help keep your students engaged as they watch the video and provide you with valuable feedback on where they need more help. The other feature is TechSmith Conversation which allows the instructor and the students to engage in a conversation surrounding a video that is created or added from YouTube.

TechSmith Relay: Using TechSmith Relay with Students Join this session to learn how to use TechSmith Fuse mobile app and how you and your students can do video recordings on the go. The session will contain the following:
