Online Virtual Meeting Space using Microsoft Teams
Suggested use for Instructors:
- Use a recurring meeting for your class section, and schedule the meeting for the days and times the classes meet.
- Use one recurring meeting for each class meeting time.
- When scheduling a MS Teams meeting using recurrence, the same Conference ID will be used.
- The content of the meeting notes and chat will persist throughout future meetings when using the same Conference ID.
- Post the link to the Teams meeting in a Blackboard announcement.
- Review Microsoft Teams getting started videos including “Manage meetings”.
Prepare your Students for joining a MS Teams Meeting:
- If connecting to the Teams Meeting using a mobile device (phone, tablet or IPad) the Microsoft Teams mobile app is needed.
- Click the "Join Microsoft Teams Meeting" from within Blackboard to join the teams meeting
- Review the tutorial “Join a Teams meeting” from “Manage meetings” for additional ways to join the meeting.
How to create the meeting and link to a Blackboard Announcement
- Login to your mc3.edu college email via the web
- Navigate to the calendar using the
icon
- Select the New event
- Enter a title:
- Enter your course section
- Invite attendees
- This can be left blank
- Dates and Times and repeat
- Set this to the dates and time your course would meet
- Location
- Select Add online meeting, then select Teams Meeting
- Select Save
- Enter a title:
- After the event is saved you can open the calendar item and copy the body of the event including the "Join Microsoft Teams Meeting"
- Create a Blackboard Announcement and paste the meeting information into the message of the announcement
How to join the meeting
- Click the link in the Blackboard Announcement
- If connecting from a mobile device ensure you have the Microsoft Teams Mobile App
