Opening Steam and SteamVR

SteamVR is required for all current PCVR virtual reality programs. Ensure you know how to access the Steam application, open SteamVR, and connect the hardware listed above to the system prior to beginning any virtual reality applications.

This article assumes you are familiar with the HTC hardware and already have the HMD connected to the link box and it's displaying a green light.

From The Windows Start menu, locate and open Steam

Once Steam is open and you're logged into your account, launch SteamVR using the VR button in the top right corner of the application window.

SteamVR will launch and attempt to connect all HTC devices.  Turn on both HTC controllers and ensure the HMD is connected to the link box and displaying a green light. The HMD may be in sleep mode when connected so move it within view of the trackers to see its status. The base station trackers will need no additional configuration outside of opening SteamVR and will show a green light when ready. When all icons are illuminated, as seen below, you are ready to use the VR equipment.

If devices are grayed out, ensure they are powered on and in view of the base stations. If the HMD icon is similar to below it may be in sleep mode, move it within view of the base stations. If base stations are grayed out, or showing a blue light, restart SteamVR by clicking the X or unplug and replug them in.
